ANNA was designed by Danish architect Otto Nielsen. IKEA had been working successfully with Danish furniture makers already in the 1950s, and in 1958 the company advertised for architects in Danish newspapers. One of the seven designers IKEA started working with was Otto Nielsen.
ANNA was launched in the 1964 IKEA catalogue. This excellent Danish design was so popular that IKEA sold it for 25 years.
